Description:
Improving teaching digital competence is crucial for higher education institutions to fulfill their mission in today's society. This study, a collaboration between the JRC and CRUE, examines the perceived digital competence of Spanish University System faculty. A survey based on the DigCompEdu and OpenEdu frameworks was conducted with 5073 lecturers from 51 universities. The findings show that the median perceived competence level is B2, with B1 being the most common. Age is the main variable affecting self-perception, while professional category, dedication, and gender show no significant differences. The study highlights the need for personalized training and adequate funding from Autonomous Communities, along with continued collaboration between CRUE, the Ministry of Universities, and the European Commission..
